Recent work

I was recently in charge of Michiko Koshino footwear range for her Catwalk Show - Designer Michiko Koshino and stylist Chris Baker present the SS12 Michiko Koshino Studio 74 collection last Friday 12th of August , in Ibiza.
Michiko Koshino is an Osaka, Japan born fashion designer. One of three famous designers in the Koshino family, Michiko’s siblings include Hiroko Koshino and Junko Koshino
If you want to know more about her, there is a link here
In her design we can see Japaneses influences in the cutting – like origami. It’s kaftans and kimonos, things you can’t really wear around the streets of London – completely different to urban wear. The shoes are meant to walk on yatchts and white sand beaches.
Every single piece is different because it’s all hand made and hand printed. A lot of it is made using just one square of fabric, whether silk or muslin, and you can wear it and wrap it many ways. There are strings so you can ruche it, play with it and detachable silk scarves that can be buttoned on and off. "Its so versatile, and perfect for Ibiza where everything here is like a show – people dress up to go everywhere, not just the clubs, but to the beach as well. They love all the lights, the atmosphere – it’s electric".
Michiko Designer and Chris, Artistic Director

Here is a glance of fun and fashion from Michiko, the unexpected the Studio 54, in London.

Black Summer

I have been away from my computer for a while. It's good to get away from the machine, no phone, no computer no technologiy. Enjoying the sunshine in the countryside. I had a great time chilling and working well ;)
Here is a wee preview of my up coming collection, I capture the shoes in the morning light before going to the airport.
Woven goat skin give all the comfort, and the vegetable tanned leather sole a sober chic.
Boots, Derby and Sandal. They are be my 3 new favourite shoes.
They will be available in Black and Chestnut. I am still working on my collection and more work will  come later on. I am really in love with summer boots -London is the perfect place to wear then.
I hope you like them as much as I do.

Enjoy summertime!

Oxford in progress

Back to the Oxford shoe that I am making at the moment.
Now the insole is (made) and attached to the upper. You can notice the asymmetry in the lacing.
If you have an accurate eye, you can see the hand stiching cross of the tongue.  I hate when the tongue doesn't stay in the middle.

Coming soon:  the heel, the sole.

Your Pretty Pumps

My current project is for an English hight-street retailer.
The purpose is to design the iconic ballet pump collection for SS12 that will make you feel
as pretty and graceful as a Ballerina.

Ballerina shoes have a peculiar look, like no other shoes. and so does the feet of the dancer.

Brigitte Bardot is one of the first image that come to my mind when talking about ballerina.French icon, all wrapped in  the atmosphere of Libération. The freedom and the lightness of being of the end of the 60's.
The possibility of mouvment, the nouvelle vague rebellion. Holidays on the sea. Far from the white London sky that I see trhough the window.

Back to the ballerina.
It's a great challenge to make a ballerina collection, as it is a classic in the women wardrobe. I myself own 3 pairs of them + one that I made this winter with sheep fur inside

The leather on the outside is waterproof  with this incredible color kind of caramel, with a lovely patin, changing as I wear them- and the pompom is naturally tanned wool from Peru.
